June 9 & 10
Barbara caught the early HyLine leaving Hank and Mark behind on Nantucket. First - the eye doctor and then Jecca picked her up in Hyannis. We stopped at Pain D'Avignon for coffee and lunch. We tried to nap in the afternoon, not entirely successfully. Willy drove us to Logan and we had something to eat at the Sky Lounge.
Our connections went very well. Our flight to Dublin left at 11:35, so a very long day. We both
managed to sleep fitfully, perhaps for 2 hours of the flight. We circled Dublin for 30 extra minutes because of a disabled aircraft on the runway. But, we easily took a cab into the train station where we got some food at Pret a Manger and caught the high speed train to Mallow.
We saw with a lovely couple who honeymooned on Nantucket in 1982. Both have visited the States several times and are alarmed at the present state of affairs.
In Mallow we caught a slower train to Tralee. We walked to the Ashe Hotel which Jecca booked.
It is really nice and we have a lovely room. We were stiff and took a walk around town and ate at a very good Thai restaurant. We decided to save the Irish food for later in the week when the options will be fewer.
We had a Guinness in the hotel's bar. Barbara tried her first one ever - a nonalcoholic one. She did not like it - yuk.
Early to bed to hopefully beat jet lag.
