Moving into 'our' flat, September 9, 10

We moved into a flat at 70 Cambridge Gardens, SW 10. Thankfully, Maura accompanied us as it involved trains and tubes to get here. I am sure we would have gotten lost. Maura has made us realize how accessible buses are and introduced us to the Tfl  app (transport for London) which will be very helpful. We used to stick to the tube, but now should be able to use busses more often which might get us closer to places.

We were greeted by Justine, the owner of the flat. The flat was accurately described in the VRBO website. It is an old building with huge ceilings. The owner kept the old moldings. We are on the ground floor. The sitting room has two large couches and is spacious. The kitchen is small, but adequate. The bedroom at the back is small, but again, adequate. The bathroom is modern. The location is close to Ladbroke

Grove tube station with a Sainsburys next door. After settling in, the three of us walked there and got the fixing for sandwiches. After Maura left for home, we did a small laundry as we are short of clothing for warm weather. We will be very happy here.

On our first full day in our flat, we finally tackled some morning exercises. Then, we walked to the nearest tube station where we thought we had only one stops to get to Royal Oak stop. Well, when the train announced the next stop, Barbara thought we were on the wrong train and hopped out, but Mark got stuck on the train and drove away. We texted and realized that it WAS the right train, so Barbara wrote to Mark to get off at the right station and she'd be right behind. However, he didn't get the text till he'd gotten off at the next station and gone to the other side to come back to her. Then, he read the text and sprinted back and got on the same train as she was. Whew! No harm and no panic, but....a sprint for Mark in the heat.

From there, we walked about 15 minutes to Warwick Place to a restaurant called Kateh. We meet Shooka there. We'd asked her to find a restaurant for Persian food and it did not disappoint. It was helpful to have her there to help choose dishes - some from northern and some from southern Iran from her parents' regions. It was terrific and our waiter had lived in New Bedford for years. Shooka told us all about her work in television and her work on documentaries mostly about the environment. Very interesting.

After that, we went to a nursery that had a cafe and had iced coffees. Then, she went on to her tube station and we went to ours. By the time we got back it was late afternoon and we called it a day.
