March 13 - Last Full Day at Playa Flamingo,

This is the 2nd Friday the 13th this year, with one to come. We are not superstitious, of course, and had a wonderful day.

We decided to stay here all day to enjoy this bit of paradise before moving on tomorrow. We chatted with Nick on the phone, emailed, blogged and I did some more last-minute editing of my next book.

The San Jose Airport was closed yesterday because of volcanic smoke and ash. It is the volcano we saw smoking from the bed and breakfast in Atenas.

We had a lovely pre-dinner coffee and tea at Nina and Rhianne's apartment here, which, by the way, is lovely with a full kitchen, big deck and their own infinity pool. We had great conversation with them and we didn't want to leave to go to dinner, actually. We had a nice education about gems and jewelry as Rhianne is a certified gemologist. The two women have so many strengths that we are sure that their joint venture will be a success as both of them are forward thinking and creative.

But, we did have reservations for dinner, so we went off, for the third time, to Bahia del Sol. It was sushi night, so we had sushi and there was live music with a man who had been playing in a band last time we went there. The sushi was only mediocre, but the atmosphere, the setting, the weather were all perfect. We sat closes to the beach where there were campfires set up and the restaurant was giving people marshmallows on skewers to road.

Mahmoud and Nadia were also having dinner there and spent some time chatting about their adventure today to a waterfall past Liberia, called Llanos de Cortes, which was quite a drive. The photos of the waterfall were beautiful and they were able to swim there. Their GPS did take them to a deadend leaving when they were hoping to avoid construction on the road and they had quite an adventure into such a remote, unpeopled area that it was a bit nerve wracking. But the waterfall is somewhere where we may explore when we leave here tomorrow.

Then, we sat around the pool chatting with them and with our host, Ben until quite late.
